Prashanth Neel is a writer and film director who works in Kannada cinema. He made his film debut in the critically acclaimed and financially successful 2014 movie Ugramm. For his notable directing in the KGF and Ugramm films, he received SIIMA and Zee Kannada Hemmeya awards.
Career
Neel completed a filmmaking course. After finishing the course, he made the choice to cast his brother-in-law, the actor Srimurali, in the screenplay he had written at the time, Aa Hudugi Neene. After the latter expressed his worries about his lack of experience, Neel changed his mind and started closely observing Srimurali's mannerisms. As a result, he came up with the idea for the action movie Ugramm. The movie ended up being a huge commercial hit and became one of the highest-grossing Kannada movies of 2014.
In late 2014 and early 2015, there were rumours that Neel had been hired to helm three movies. The first film is Ugramm Veeram, a sequel to Ugramm, in which Srimurali will reprise his Ugramm role. His upcoming film, KGF, which stars Yash in the lead role, is currently in pre-production. Puneeth Rajkumar would play the male lead in Aahvana.
