Praveen Gandhi, also credited as Praveenkanth, is an Indian film director and actor known for his works in Tamil cinema. Initially aspiring to become an actor, he began his career as a co-director under Priyadarshan before getting his first directorial opportunity with Ratchagan (1997), a high-profile project starring Nagarjuna, Sushmita Sen, and music by A. R. Rahman.

Career Highlights

After his debut, Praveen returned with the romantic hit Jodi (1999), starring Prashanth and Simran, where he also appeared in a cameo role. He went on to direct Star (2001), reprising collaborations with Prashanth, but the film failed to match Jodi’s success.

Praveen also ventured into acting, taking full-length roles in films like Thullal (2007), which received poor reviews. Despite setbacks, he continued to experiment with filmmaking and announced projects like Pulipaarvai (2014), where he also worked as editor, art director, and lyricist.
