Balti Story

Balti is a Malayalam sports drama directed by Unni Sivalingam, featuring Shane Nigam in the lead role. The film also marks the acting debut of director Alphonse Puthren, who plays a character named Soda Babu.

Written by Unni Sivalingam himself, the film is jointly produced by Santosh T Kuruvilla under STK Frames and Binu Alexander George under his namesake banner, with Sherin Rachel Santhosh serving as co-producer. On the technical side, Alex J Pulickal handles cinematography, while Shivkumar V Panicker takes charge of editing, promising a visually rich and tightly crafted narrative.

Movie Plot
The film narrates the story of four young Kabaddi players from a border village on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border who get drawn into the dangerous and murky world of local loan sharks. Initially chasing their sporting dreams and seeking a better life, they are gradually pulled into illegal dealings, forced debts, and violent power struggles. As their ambitions clash with harsh realities, the story explores themes of friendship, loyalty, and the high cost of choices made under pressure. With intense Kabaddi sequences, gripping drama, and vivid portrayals of border village life, the film captures both the thrill of the sport and the dark shadows of the underworld that threaten to consume the protagonists.

Balti was released in theaters on September 26, 2025. In addition to Malayalam, the film also released in Tamil, reaching a wider audience across South India.
