BIGG
BOSS
17:
PRESS
CONFERENCE
FOR
JIGNA
VORA
Viewers
have
been
responding
favorably
to
the
show's
new
season.
Although
only
three
episodes
of
Bigg
Boss
17
have
aired
on
Colors
TV,
it's
still
too
early
to
make
definitive
judgments
about
the
contestants.
To
make
the
show
more
interesting
and
entertaining
for
fans,
the
makers
are
set
to
host
a
press
conference
in
tonight's
(October
19)
episode.
Usually,
the
makers
organize
press
conference
towards
the
center
of
the
show,
however,
this
time,
they
decided
to
do
it
in
the
very
beginning
to
create
buzz.
As
shown
in
the
promo,
journalists
will
enter
the
Bigg
Boss
17
house
to
question
ex-crime
journalist
Jigna
Vora
who
was
once
accused
in
a
murder
case
and
even
went
to
jail
for
around
nine
months.
Wondering
why
Jigna
went
to
jail
and
what
was
the
whole
controversy.
Here's
everything
you
need
to
know.
Mumbai-based
crime
reporter
Jigna
Vora
grabbed
headlines
when
she
was
accused
in
connection
with
the
2011
murder
of
senior
crime
reporter
Jyotirmoy
Dey
aka
J
Dey.
At
the
time,
she
held
the
position
of
deputy
bureau
chief
for
a
newspaper's
Mumbai
bureau.
The
murder
of
Jyotirmoy
Dey
drew
attention
due
to
the
involvement
of
unidentified
gunmen.
Jigna
Vora's
name
swiftly
emerged
as
a
potential
suspect,
dramatically
altering
the
course
of
her
life.
She
faced
charges
of
conspiring
in
the
murder
of
the
journalist
alongside
gangster
Chhota
Rajan.
Following
the
murder
trial,
Vora
received
a
seven-year
prison
sentence,
whereas
gangster
Chota
Rajan
was
sentenced
to
life
imprisonment.
Jigna
Vora
was
taken
into
custody,
serving
nine
months
behind
bars.
In
2012,
she
was
granted
bail
from
Byculla
Jail
in
Mumbai.
However,
it
wasn't
until
seven
years
later,
in
2018,
that
she
was
finally
acquitted
of
all
charges
by
a
special
court
under
the
Maharashtra
Control
of
Organised
Crime
Act,
due
to
a
lack
of
evidence.
KARISHMA
TANNA
PLAYED
ROLE
INSPIRED
BY
JIGNA
VORA
IN
SCOOP
Subsequently,
she
penned
a
memoir
titled
Behind
Bars
in
Byculla:
My
Days
in
Prison,
providing
a
vivid
account
of
her
experiences
during
her
time
in
jail.
Her
book
inspired
the
Netflix
series
Scoop,
directed
by
Hansal
Mehta.
Interestingly,
Bigg
Boss
8
runner-up
Karishma
Tanna
played
the
lead
role
in
it
alongside
Mohammed
Zeeshan
Ayyub.
It
was
a
huge
success.
