Story Plot

Satyanarayana, also known as Satya Dada (Prakash Raj), smuggles a large amount of gold from Japan. With his two sons (Venkat, Shyam) and his foster son OG, also known as Ojas Gambheer (Pawan Kalyan), he sets up a port in Mumbai and builds a massive business empire. However, after killing Satya Dada’s elder son (Shyam), OG leaves Mumbai and settles in Nasik with his wife Kanmani (Priya Arul Mohan) and daughter Tara. Meanwhile, Satya Dada’s team seizes a container sent from abroad by Omi (Emraan Hashmi). This sparks a conflict, and during the chaos, Satya Dada’s younger son Parthu (Venkat) is killed by Omi’s gang. Omi also begins plotting to kill Satya Dada.

When Satya Dada visits OG in Nasik, Omi’s men attack him. The story then unfolds through a series of questions: Why did OG kill Satya Dada’s elder son? Where did he stay for 15 years after leaving Mumbai? How did his marriage with Kanmani happen in Nasik? What kind of life did OG lead with Kanmani? Why did Satya Dada seek out OG after his son’s death? Why did Omi’s group try to seize Satya Dada’s port? How did OG, upon his return to Mumbai, confront the threats posed by Omi? Why did Omi kidnap OG’s daughter? Why did Satya Dada’s grandson Arjun (Arjun Das) attempt to kill OG? What kind of massacre was Omi planning in Mumbai, and how did OG stop it? What is OG’s mysterious background after being away from Mumbai for 15 years? And what connection does OG have with the Japanese Samurai?

The answers to these questions form the gripping narrative of OG.

Production

The project was officially announced in December 2022 after director Sujeeth narrated the script to Pawan Kalyan. With a reported budget of around ₹250 crore, the film is one of the costliest Telugu projects to date. Pawan Kalyan is said to be receiving a remuneration of about ₹100 crore. Emraan Hashmi was roped in to play the villain, marking his debut in Telugu cinema, while Priyanka Mohan was cast as the female lead. Supporting roles are played by seasoned actors such as Prakash Raj, Arjun Das, Sriya Reddy, and others.

Filming

Principal photography began on 15 April 2023 in Mumbai, with the first schedule wrapping up on 2 May 2023. Following this, some scenes were shot in Pune featuring Pawan Kalyan and Priyanka Mohan. The second schedule commenced on 18 May 2023 in Hyderabad and continued with large-scale sets and action sequences. The filming process extended through 2023 and 2024 due to the actor’s political commitments, but by mid-2025, Pawan Kalyan officially completed his portions, signaling the final stages of production.

Marketing

The promotional campaign for OG began with the release of the teaser glimpse titled Hungry Cheetah on 2 September 2023, coinciding with Pawan Kalyan’s birthday. The film’s music, composed by Thaman S, also played a key role in the promotions, with singles like Firestorm, Suvvi Suvvi, Trance of Omi, and Guns N’ Roses being released in August and September 2025. These tracks helped build buzz across social media and streaming platforms. The makers have confirmed that the theatrical trailer will be unveiled on 21 September 2025, just days before the release.

OTT Rights

The post-theatrical digital streaming rights of OG have been acquired by Netflix for an impressive deal valued at around ₹92 crore. Following its theatrical run, the film is expected to make its digital premiere on the platform, most likely about four weeks after the cinema release. This deal highlights the film’s wide appeal and ensures that fans across the globe can watch it on a leading OTT platform.

Theatrical Release

OG hit the big screens worldwide on 25 September 2025 with a grand release. The film arrived not just in Telugu but also in dubbed versions in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi, making it a true pan-Indian release. Originally planned for September 2024, the movie faced delays due to production hurdles and Pawan Kalyan’s political commitments, eventually moving to 2025. Now, with its theatrical debut, OG has opened as one of the most awaited and biggest releases of the year.
