Uppu Kappurambu Story
Uppu Kappurambu is a Telugu satirical comedy-drama movie, written by Vasanth Maringanti and directed by Ani I V Sasi. The film stars Suhas and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles, along with Babu Mohan, Shatru, Talluri Rameshwari, and several others in supporting roles.
The music is composed by Sweekar Agasthi and Rajesh Murugesan, with cinematography by Divakar Mani and editing by Sreejith Sarang. The film is produced by Radhika Lavu under the banner of Ellanar Films Pvt. Ltd.
Story
In the village of Chitti Jayapuram, a strange and unique funeral tradition is followed instead of cremating the dead, they are always buried. For every person who passes away, a grave is constructed with a written note explaining the cause of death. The responsibility of digging the graves and managing the burial rituals lies with Chinna (Suhas), who quietly carries out these duties.
After the death of the respected village elder (Shubhalekha Sudhakar), his granddaughter Apoorva (Keerthy Suresh) inherits the leadership role, though reluctantly. However, her position is challenged by other influential villagers like Bheemayya (Babu Mohan) and Madhu Babu (Shatru), who oppose her authority. Amidst this leadership struggle, a major crisis erupts the village graveyard becomes completely full, leaving no space for further burials, causing panic among the villagers.
As Apoorva tries to navigate the pressures of a role she never wanted, she faces numerous emotional and social challenges. Meanwhile, Chinna tells a lie related to the graveyard to avoid conflict, but it leads to serious consequences. The village elders punish him for his actions, which only adds to the tension. Eventually, overwhelmed by the situation and the burden of leadership, Apoorva decides to step down from her post. What follows is a search for a new leader and a solution to the graveyard crisis that has deeply affected the village.
"Uppu Kappurambu" unfolds as a satirical and emotional village drama that questions traditions, explores human flaws, and highlights the importance of responsibility and leadership in the face of unexpected challenges.
Uppu Kappurambu is set for a direct OTT release on Amazon Prime Video on July 4, 2025, and will be available in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
