72nd National Film Awards 2026: Full Winners List of Bollywood Stars Who Took Home Honors

Article 370 emerged as the biggest winner at the 72nd National Film Awards, taking home the prestigious Best Feature Film award. Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, the film also secured major honors including Best Actress for Yami Gautam and Best Music Direction (Songs) for Shashwat Sachdev. Centered on the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, the political thriller stood out as one of the most acclaimed and talked-about films of the year. 

Kartik Aaryan won the Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 72nd National Film Awards for his powerful performance in Chandu Champion, sharing the honor with legendary Malayalam star Mammootty for Bramayugam; in the film, Kartik portrayed Murlikant Petkar, India’s first Paralympic gold medalist, delivering an inspiring, career-defining performance. 

Randeep Hooda has been honored with the prestigious Best Debut Director award at the 72nd National Film Awards for his film Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. The movie, a Hindi-language biographical drama, marked his directorial debut, where he also took on multiple roles as the lead actor, co-producer, and co-writer. Notably, he underwent an intense physical transformation for the role, reportedly losing around 30 kg to authentically portray the character. 

Sanjay Mishra won the Best Supporting Actor award at the 72nd National Film Awards in July 2026 for his outstanding performance in Bhakshak. This marks his first-ever National Film Award in an illustrious 31-year career spanning over 150 films. He was widely praised for his role as Bhaskar Sinha, a seasoned cameraman whose character served as the moral backbone of the story while supporting an investigative journalist. 

Yami Gautam won the Best Actress award at the 72nd National Film Awards on July 18, 2026, for her impactful role in Article 370. This win marks her first-ever National Film Award in a career spanning over 14 years. Her performance was widely praised for its intensity and strong screen presence, making it a standout moment in the film.
