Chhaava (Chava) Beats Padmavat, Kesari and Many More and Became All Time Biggest Opening For Historical Films

Chhaava has roared at the box office, collecting a massive ₹31 crore on its opening day, making it the biggest opening ever for a historical film in India. Surpassing the first-day collections of Padmaavat, Kesari, and other period dramas, the film has set a new benchmark in the genre. Chhaava saw a good hike on day 2, according to a report Chhaava earned Rs 48.5 crores on day 3 which took the overall collections of the movie to Rs 116.5 crores.

Padmaavat is a 2018 Indian historical drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie is based on the epic poem Padmavat by Malik Muhammad Jayasi and stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh, and Ranveer Singh as Sultan Alauddin Khilji.The film earned ₹24 crore on its first day in 2018.

Akshay Kumar's Kesari (2019), earned ₹21.06 crore on its first day. The movie is an Indian historical war drama directed by Anurag Singh and starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role. The film is based on the Battle of Saragarhi (1897), one of the greatest last stands in history, where 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army bravely fought against 10,000 Afghan invaders.

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is a 2020 Indian historical action film directed by Om Raut and starring Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol. The film is based on the Battle of Sinhagad (1670) and showcases the unwavering bravery of Tanhaji, a trusted commander of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Tanhaji crossed 15cr on its opening day.

Bajirao Mastani is a 2015 Indian epic historical romance directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, starring Ranveer Singh ,Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra. The film is based on the life of Bajirao I, the great Maratha warrior, and his love story with Mastani, a warrior princess. The movie was loved by everyone and earned 12.80cr on its opening day.
