Meena entered the film industry as a child artist in 1982 with Nenjangal. She was discovered by legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan, who spotted her at a birthday party. This early start paved the way for her to act alongside some of the biggest stars in Indian cinema.

Though Meena had to discontinue school after the 8th standard due to her busy acting schedule, she continued her education privately. She completed her 10th standard through private coaching and later earned a Master’s degree in History from the University of Madras in 2006, proving her dedication to learning.

Meena is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, a skill that has enriched her screen performances.
