Neetu Kapoor trolled: Bollywood veterans Zeenat Aman and Neetu Kapoor were seen making a smashing appearance on the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 8. Neetu made several interesting revelations and went candid about her granddaughter, Raha.
During the conversation, Neetu Kapoor revealed how special Raha is and talked about how there is a constant battle between her and Alia Bhatt's mom, Soni Razdan, about her wanting Raha to call 'papa' first rather than 'Mumma'.
However, the veteran actress' statement did not go down well with netizens, who labelled her a typical mother-in-law.
Neetu Kapoor on wanting Raha to say Papa
For the unversed, Raha is the daughter of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Talking about her on KWK8, Neetu Kapoor shared that there is a constant "mini battle" that she indulges in with Raha's maternal grandmother, Soni Razdan, and Alia Bhatt.
She said, "At my home, the baby is growing. I keep instructing the help to tell her to say 'Papa'. But Soni tells her to say 'Mumma'." At this, Karan Johar interrupted to add, "You're having this mini battle."
She further added, "So, I went the other day to the house and Alia says, 'Oh, by the way, she said mumma.' So, I said, she didn't say mumma but she said mum-mum. So, don't be so happy."
Netizens criticise Neetu's statement
Soon, after the episode went on air, many users could relate to her words, as it's common in many households, and called her a typical Indian mother. However, many criticised her for being a traditional saas to Alia Bhatt and even called her toxic.
Some compared Neetu to Ankita Lokhande's MIL mom and said, "Vicky's mother talking in english." Another added, "Even if she says mumma first Neetu Kapoor should be happiest. She is a mom too."
Another user wrote, "She was the one why his previous relationships didn't work. Such toxic control freak." One comment read, "This is ultimate toxicity and also involving kid in it."
Interestingly, it was Neetu Kapoor who chose the name Raha for her granddaughter, which means purest form and divine path. Further, when host Karan Johar asked her if she would like to give any marriage advice to Alia and Ranbir, she said that she doesn't want them to learn anything from her marriage.
She then added that today's generation deals with things differently and also mentioned that she loves her son Ranbir but gets to spend less time due to his work commitments.
