Jayanthi (Andrea Jeremiah) arrives from Mumbai to Kerala with a hidden agenda. She hires a taxi for the journey. Raju (Mohanlal) is the driver of the taxi. Later, Jayanthi finds out that Raju is not just a taxi driver and he has another face. This leads to the rest of plot.
Ranjith, who doubles as the writer and director of the movie, manages to execute the first half pretty well. It is completely engaging with the light-hearted comical situations. The interval sequence is also delivered well. But things go out of the hands in the second half, which looks dull and extremely predictable, with a disappointing climax. Ranjith's craft as a filmmaker is visible throughout the movie. But what Loham lacks is, his brilliance as a writer.
A one-time watch which doesn't fit into the category of neither mass nor class.
The movie is directed by Ranjith and produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner Aashirvad Cinemas. Sreevalsan J. Menon composed the music while C. Rajamani created the background score. The cinematography was handled by Kunjunni S. Kumar.Actress Mythili debuted as assistant director through the film.
Loham is worth the watch. You will not be disappointed with the story of Loham. Watch it if you are an ardent Malayalam thrillers fan. You will love watching Loham this weekend.
So the bottom line here is that people going with loads of expectation, the advice is to just bring it down to a lower level and watch Loham. Now to the most awaited part in the review that you all are looking for, the ratings. I will go with three out of five.
Overall Loham was a disappointment for me. The most generous verdict from my part would be that it is an average movie. But I don’t think it’s a movie that deserves that sort of generosity, so the rating is 2/5. It will be comfortable onetime watch for those who say “watching Mohanlal is enough for me.”
The quality of the film ( in its making & perfection ) was really appreciable. Mohanlal really done his job in such a way that we feel that Ranjith should have done something bigger ! On the packed theater, the first half was good enough for the audience to get some expectations for the second half. I must repeatedly say that this was a Mohanlal show and in the end , Ranjith failed in executing his efforts correctly. There was actually no climax infact ! The songs in between was also really nice to hear and the bgm’s was not that effective for the film.
Verdict : A film for Mohanlal fans . The movie will take you nowhere otherwise .
