starrer
Malayalam
movie
Kandahar,
which
has
hit
the
screens
across
the
state
on
16th
December,
had
created
lot
curiosity
among
the
film
goers
before
its
release.
But
if
we
are
to
go
by
the
Mollywood
reports,
the
film
has
fallen
flat
at
the
Box
Office
on
the
first
day
of
its
release.
Sources
claim
that
the
reason
behind
this
is
the
content
of
the
film.
Major
Ravi
directed
film
Kandahar
is
based
on
the
real
hijacking
incident
of
the
Indian
Airlines
Flight
814.
The
film
critics
had
expected
that
the
content
of
the
movie
would
impress
the
viewers
a
lot.
But
the
presentation
of
the
subject
on
the
screen
is
said
to
have
confused
the
audience.
Especially,
film
goers
are
disappointed
very
much
with
the
climax
of
the
film.
Reports
claim
that
the
die-hard
fans
of
Mohanlal
have
also
not
been
able
to
digest
the
film.
Kandahar
is
said
to
have
been
made
with
a
whopping
budget
of
Rs
5.5
crore
and
producers
Sunil
Nair
and
Mohanlal
had
expected
it
to
do
very
well
at
the
Box
Office.
But
sources
claim
that
the
film
has
bombed
at
the
Box
Office
on
the
opening
day.
It
is
reported
that
it
hit
125
screens
in
Kerala
on
the
first
day
of
its
release
and
the
number
of
screens
went
down
to
80
within
is
a
couple
of
days.
However,
Kandahar
is
the
third
film
in
the
'Major
Mahadevan
series'.
The
first
movie
of
the
series,
Kirtichakra
was
a
runaway
success,
while
the
second
film
Kurukshetra
was
only
an
average
grosser.
The
third
venture
boasts
of
the
big
star
cast
of
veterens
like
Mohanlal,
Amitabh
Bachchan
and
Sumalatha.
Now,
the
question
is
whether
movie
would
recover
its
budget
and
save
the
producers
from
suffering
loss.
