Day 3 - Grand Opening For Indian Cinema Centenary Celebrations

The 100 Years of Indian Cinema has entered day 3 of its celebrations. Today the Malayalam industry is showing their gratitude and honouring their stars, who contributed to the growth of the industry. Kamal Hassan, who was present at the function said that he was very much thankful to Malayalam Cinema, that contributed a lot towards the growth of his career.

All guests at the function were welcomed with Panchavadhyam and Kathakali, that created a Kerala ambiance all around. The programme kicked off with a Ganesha Vandanam. Mammootty, Mohanlal and director B Unnikrishnan anchored the show. Dignitaries like Vayalar Ravi, KC Joseph, K Balachander, Madhu and Kamal Hassan were present on the dias. The Kuthuvilakku was lit by Vayalar Ravi and Lizy.

The function also celebrated the 80th birthday of actor Madhu. Mammootty and Mohanlal honoured the actor. Profound actors like Sarada, TR Omana, Sheela, Suhasini, Urvasi, Poornima, KS Chithra, Madhavi, KPAC Lalitha, Vidhubala and Mohan were present at the function. Young stars like Fahad Fazil and Dulquar Salman also marked their presence.

Cultural programmes started with a good performance by Isha Sherwani. It was followed by another grand performance by Remya Nambeesan, Meera Nandan and Vishnupriya. Akhila Sasidhran performed a rocking Kalaripayittu. Actors like Shweta Menon, Nazriya Nazim, Sura, Mia and Vineeth shaked their legs for the tunes of the 70's medleys. Rima Kallingal and Shamna Kasim also gave a good performance.

Mammootty gave away the awards for the living legends of the Malayalam cinema - PK Kaimal, Sarada and Sheela, while Mohanlal presented the awards to TR Omana and Hariharan.
