Jabardasth Critics Review

filmibeat.com
Exactly a year after the release of his last movie Love Failure, actor Siddharth has made a grand comeback with his latest outing Jabardasth, which is released as Dum Dum Pee Pee in Tamil. Sid has teamed up with Samantha and Nithya Menon for this movie. Written and directed by Nandini Reddy, the film seems to have been inspired by hit Hindi film Band Baaja Baaraat. It is very entertaining and engaging and Sid is the showman in it.

Jabardasth is a romantic comedy film with all masala ingredients. Siddharth-Samantha's performances are the main attractions in the film. Nandini Reddy's engaging screenplay and funny dialogues and one-liners, SS Thaman's music, good picturisation, rib-tickling comedy sequences, beautiful costumes and art work are other highlights of the film.

There is nothing big to boast about the story of the movie Jabardasth. It is loosely inspired by Band Baaja Baaraat, but it is not a complete remake of the Hindi film. Nandini Reddy has taken the basic plot and the lead pair from the original and narrated the story as per the taste of Telugu audience. The director has good grip on the tempo and she successfully runs the show with all commercial elements.

The film starts in Bihar with the entry of Sayaji Shinde as Bihar babu, which is very funny. The director goes on building viewers' interest with a couple of songs and few comedy sequences in the first half. A sentiment scene between Sid and Sam before the interval bang brings a new twist to the story. The second half is even more interesting with a few romantic and funny moments. The climax is also good.

Baireddy (Siddharth) is a smart and fun-loving guy, who falls in love with Shreya (Samantha), but a situation leads to their break-up. After the split, they start separate event management companies. Here enters drama artist Lakshmi Devi (Nithya Menon), who joins his new business team. What happens next will form the crux of the story.

Band Baaja Baaraat had a large scope for emotions. Whereas Nandini Reddy has reduced the emotional quotient and replaced it with farcical comedy, which makes this Telugu movie different from Hindi film. Siddharth has a completely different role and he has done justice to it. He looks promising in all comedy, romantic and sentimental sequences. His chemistry with both Samantha and Nithya Menon is very cute and is the main attraction in the film.

Samantha has good scope in the film and he bubbly characterization is entertaining. The actress will surely impress you in both romantic and emotional sequences. Her belly dance in the song 'Meghamala' is very hot. When compared to Samantha, Nithya Menon's role is small, but her character makes a huge difference to the film Jabardasth. She has also delivered a very good performance. She is sure to impress you with her glamour.

Shayaji Shinde is sure to tickle your funny bones. Srihari has important role in the film and he has done a good job. Others like Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, Telangana Sakunthala, Thagubothu Ramesh, Suresh, Vennela Kishore and Duvvasi Mohan have also done justice to their respective roles. SS Thaman's music and background score are the main highlight in the technical front. He has composed some of the most trendy and melodious tunes for the film. His compositions like 'Thees Maar Khan', 'Meghamala' and 'Arere Arere' are good to listen.

The cinematography is another attraction in the film. Especially the picturisation of each song is different from the other. Costumes and art direction in song sequences is superb. Nandini Reddy's funny dialogues are the big strength of the film Jabardasth. Her composition of different scenes and characterisation are also good. The editing of the film is commendable.

Overall, Jabardasth is a decent entertainer and it will be a treat for comedy lovers. Don't miss it if you are a fan of Siddharth.
