Story
Dhurandhar: The Revenge is the high-stakes sequel to the 2025 hit Dhurandhar, following Indian covert operative Jaskirat Singh Rangi, played by Ranveer Singh. Continuing his deep-cover mission in Pakistan under the alias Hamza Ali Mazari, Jaskirat rises within Karachi’s criminal and political underworld after taking down crime lord Rehman Dakait (Akshaye Khanna) in the first film. His ultimate mission is to dismantle the powerful “Bade Sahab” network linking the Inter-Services Intelligence with global terrorist groups, while targeting the ruthless ISI officer Major Iqbal (Arjun Rampal). As the operation intensifies, Jaskirat must also cope with the emotional and psychological strain of living a double life, including maintaining his marriage to Yalina (Sara Arjun), while remaining loyal to his duty to India.
Production
The film was shot between 2024 and early 2026 across India and Thailand, with the production opting for back-to-back shooting alongside the original film due to its sprawling storyline. The cinematography, action choreography, and large-scale set designs make it one of the most ambitious Indian action thrillers of the year.
Publicity and Marketing
The film has been heavily promoted with teaser campaigns, cast interviews, and social media challenges. Strategic marketing has targeted both domestic and international audiences, highlighting the film’s action, scale, and star power.
Pre-Release Business
In addition to OTT and music deals, the franchise has performed strongly in merchandising and sponsorship tie-ups. Analysts estimate the pre-release business to exceed ₹250 crore, making it one of the most commercially viable Indian films ahead of release.
OTT and Digital Rights
The film’s OTT rights were sold to JioHotstar for a reported ₹150 crore, one of the biggest digital deals for an Indian film. Music rights were acquired by T-Series in a deal valued around ₹50–60 crore.
Controversies
During production, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) flagged alleged safety and permission violations on set, suggesting penalties and temporary blacklisting of the production house. Social media controversies surrounding promotional campaigns also generated discussions about competing releases.
Theatrical Release
Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge was slated for a nationwide release on March 19, 2026. While the Hindi version hit theatres as scheduled, the dubbed South Indian versions faced delays due to certification and print issues, with Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam versions beginning their rollout from March 21, 2026 onwards.
