Shakeela, the name itself is more than enough to tickle all the emotional drives of young and old alike. There may be people in India for whom the names Rajinikanth or Amitabh Bachan may sound strange but never the name Shakeela; as even after years from the releasing dates, Shakeela movies are screened all over India, dubbed into almost all the Indian languages. No wonder! Sex and porn never are boring! There was a period in renowned Malayalam film industry when award winning superstars like Mohanlal and Mammootty were left with no films and no fans because of the popularity of Shakeela films. There is a best heard joke that Shakeela is the only actress in this world who needs no dialogues but just 'the vowels' to act in an entire movie! This statement even though funny, is true to some extent. She has completed more than 15 films as a comedy star. To her pride she has even acted in a Malayalam movie with superstar Mohanlal, named 'Chotta Mumbai'. When asked about the new image of a comedy star she told "it is nice to make people happy and laughing." Shakeela says that it is her ambition to star with the Indian mega star Rajnikanth. No wonder if it happens one day; Shakeela unlike other porn stars, has proved that she knows not only the soft core numbers but also the real pulse of the art of acting.

Even though brought up as a Malayalee, Shakeela was born in Andra Pradesh on November 19, 1973. Her mother tongue is Malayalam in which she starred her debut film and became a legendary porn star. Acting was there in her blood as she began her movie career at the tender age of 15. Her debut soft porn movie was 'Playgirls'. 'Kinnarathumbikal' the ever hit Shakeela film brought her to the mainstream film industry. With these films there developed a major cult fan base of Shakeela all over South India. There followed a good number of soft porn movies in various Indian languages like Tamil, Kannada and Telugu. Till date she has acted in more than 100 Malayalam movies apart from the recent comedy films in other languages. There were producers waiting for long for the call sheet of Shakeela as a Shakeela film could be made within the budget of 20-25 lakhs and the returns sometimes may go up to 1 crore. 90S' witnessed the spring season of Shakeela movies. As Shakeela films pushed in to theaters on after another, mainstream Malayalam film industry remained packed up for over half a decade.

Looking back to the long list of her porn movies she says "I have no regrets because I got something that I never expected and however be so, I would be still remembered by the Kerala public." Yes.. she is right... At least in the midnight dreams of Indian people, both young and old as age is no bar for sex and porn, the hot face of Shakeela would ignite sparks of emotions forever.
