Ambika

Ambika is an Indian actress who is mainly works in the South film industry. She made her debut in Malayalam cinema in 1979 with Mamangam. Apart from being acting in Malayalam film, she appeared in few Telugu and Tamil films. She is best known for her films like Rajavintea Makan, Irupatham Noottandu, Andha 7 Naatkal and Periya Manushan.

 
Personal Life

Ambika was born on 16th November in 1962 to Karunakaran and Sarasana in Kallara, Thiruavananthapuram, Kerala.She has four siblings. Two brothers Arjun and Suresh and two young sisters, Radha and Mallika. Her sister Radha is also an actress. She has acted with Kamal Haasan in several movies and has appeared in glamorous roles in movies like Kaakki Sattai, Vikram, and Kadhal Parisu.


Ambika married Premkumar Menon in 1988 and got divorced in 1996.The couple have two sons. After the seperation of her first marriage, Ambika remarried actor Ravikanth in 2000. Later,they have announced their seperation in 2002.

Career Life

Ambika began her career as a child artist at the age of 16. By playing lead roles in films in 80's, the actress became prominent among audience. She has acted morethan 200 films in the language like Malayalam, Tanil, Telugu and Kannada. She made her deubt in Malayalam cinema with 'Seetha'.But she shot fame with the Yusuf Ali Kechery directed-film Neelathamara,starring along with Ravi Kumar. Later, she became one of the busiest actresses in the  South film industry.

The actress was introduced to Tamil audiences by director Bhagyaraj,through his film 'Andha 7 Naatkal in 1981.Later, she did many super-hit films along with legend actors like Kamala Hassan, Rajinikanth, Vijayakanth, Sathyaraj, Mammotty , Mohanlal.

Apart from acting in Malayalam and Tamil films, she also appeared in Telugu and Kannada films.She is best known for her films such as Rajavintea Makan, Kakki Sattai, Simhada Mari and Maa Nannaku Pelli.
