Dhananjay Atrey, is an Indian film actor who works predominantly in Kannada Cinema. Dhananjay started with still modeling and featured in ad campaigns for brands such as Kingfisher Derby & Raymonds. He later took up acting in tele-serials and movies.
Acting Career
In 2007, Dhananjay Atrey managed to secure a small role in the film Buddhivanta, starring Upendra. This was his first moment before the camera. Co-incidently, he had the opportunity to meet and get to know noted producer Rockline Venkatesh. This lead to secure small, character roles in films such as Bombaat (2008), Devru (2009) & Yodha (2009), all from Rockline Productions.
In 2009, Dhananjay played a lead role in the serial ‘Parineeta’ which starred noted actress B. Jayashree and Late minister M.P Prakash. The serial was supposed to be telecast in the Zee-Kannada channel. It was however did not get telecast.
In 2010, Dhananjay took up an antagonist role in the serial ‘Munjaavu’ telecast in E.TV-Kannada (now Colors) for 40 episodes. He also managed to secure the role of a police officer in AMR Ramesh’s ‘Veerappan’s Attahasa’ (2011). This was followed by a lead role in the E.TV serial ‘Chitralekha’ (2011-12) for close to 400 episodes.
In the end of the year 2017, Dhananjay created his home banner ‘DJ Entertainments’ and produced ‘KARSHANAM’, a Kannada film of thriller genre directed by Sharavana, under the camera work of Mohan M. Magudeshwaran (of Karva and Buckasura fame). The film released in the November 2018.
