Biography

Kausalya is a Malayalam and Tamil language actress who has appeared in various Indian regional films. After starting her career as a lead heroine, she has since gone on to portray supporting roles. She is known as Nandhini in Malayalam movies. She got her break in 1995 with the Malayalam film Surya Kalyanam starring Suresh Gopi, playing the role of Kavitha. The film got her breaks in Tamil films which she sealed in 1997 with Nerukku Nare with Vijay (popular with the song "Akhila Akhila"). She followed her success with films like Priyamudan, Pooveli, Vanathai Pola and became a number one box-office heroine. She has acted in over 30 films as a heroine in Tamil and Malayalam, including Karumadi Kuttan with Kalabhavan Mani and Ponmudan with Murali. She has received a Filmfare award for the best actress (Tamil) for the movie Pooveli. She mostly acted in saree-clad and conservative roles. As a result, in the 2000s, the era of Simran's and the Glam Dolls - she appeared sporadically in supporting roles such as in Tirumalai and Santosh Subramaniam. She made her teleserial debut in Manaivi, which aired 292 episodes on Sun TV.
