Rahman

Rahman aka Raghuman(Raghu) is a celebrated Indian actor, predominantly known for his impressive work in both Malayalam and Tamil cinema. He made a remarkable debut in the 1983 Malayalam film Koodevide, directed by the legendary filmmaker P. Padmarajan. In Koodevide, Rahman starred alongside industry icons like Suhasini and Mammootty. His debut role in Koodevide established him as a promising young actor, earning him critical acclaim for his performance.


Personal Life
Born in Abu Dhabi, Rahman married Meherunnisa in 1993, and they have two daughters together. Meherunnisa is the elder sister of Saira Banu, who is married to the celebrated musician A.R. Rahman.


Career Life
Rahman began his acting journey as a young schoolboy at the age of 16, making his big-screen debut in 1983 with the Malayalam film Koodevide. Directed by the renowned P. Padmarajan, this role propelled Rahman into the spotlight, showcasing his natural talent and charismatic screen presence. Following his debut, he took on lead roles in films like Kaliyil Alpam Karyam and Ithiri Poove Chuvanna Poove, both of which garnered him significant critical acclaim for his compelling performances.

His portrayal of layered, emotional characters in these films established him as one of Malayalam cinema’s promising young actors. Rahman’s role in Kanamarayathu further solidified his reputation, earning him widespread praise and greater recognition within the industry. This film, in particular, showcased his ability to bring depth to complex characters, making a lasting impression on audiences and critics alike. By the late 1980s, Rahman had become a sensation, collaborating with top filmmakers and major stars in Malayalam cinema.

After achieving remarkable success in Malayalam cinema, Rahman expanded his career into Tamil films, quickly establishing himself with emotive, nuanced performances in movies like Nilave Malare and Vandichakkaram. His notable Tamil projects also include Ponniyin Selvan: I, Pagadi Aattam, Oru Mugathirai, Balam, and Sangamam. In addition to his Tamil work, Rahman appeared in several Telugu films, such as Simha, Oosaravelli, and Govindudu Andarivadele. Most recently, Rahman starred in the Malayalam web series 1000 Babies on Disney+ Hotstar, and he also played a lead role in Bad Boys, directed by Omar Lulu.
