Roshan Mathew Biography

Roshan Mathew is an Indian film Actor, who has worked predominantly in the Malayalam movie industry. He made his acting debut with the 2015 Malayalam comedy movie Adi Kapyare Kootamani. He came to limelight with the portrayal of the character named Gautham in the movie Aanandam.

Personal Life

He was born in 1992 in Chaganassery , Kerala. His father Mathew Joseph, is a former bank manager and mother Regina Augustine is a retired PWD Engineer. Roshan Mathew has a sister, Reshma Rege Mathew.

Upon completion of their first year in the Engineering course, he dropped out of the college and joined Madras Christian College to pursue a degree. Then he finds his interest in attending theatre performances during his college days. Later he moved to Mumbai and joined the Drama school.


Career Life

Before venturing into the film industry, Roshan Mathew was active in theatre performances. He made his first debut with Adi Kapyarea Kootamani, a comedy genre directed by John Varghese. The film starred Dhyan Sreenivasan Namitha Pramod and Neeraj Madhav. Later, he acted in the film Aanandam in 2016. With his curly hairstyle and charming smile in the film, he grabbed the audience's attention. The film was a super hit and Roshan Mathew became a popular face among the young generation.

Later he appeared in the films like Puthiya Niyamam Koode,Thottappan, Oraayiramm Kinaakkal. In 2018 actor bagged SIIMA Awards for Best Actor in Supporting Role for the films Koode, Moothon.

After that, he plays a lead role in the  Moothon, directed by Geethu Mohandas  in 2019. He has received critical appreciation and accolades for his stellar performance in the film. The movie was selected for the Indian Film Festival in Melbourne and also won two awards at the Indo-German Film Week 2020. And the actor Roshan Mathew won the Best Supporting Actor award.

Since then, he acted in films including C U Soon, Kappela ,Kuruthi , Night Drive and Aanum Pennum  . He is one of the young and most talented actors in the Malayalam film industry, who has acted in more than 31  films in his short-time career life.

Apart from acting in the Malayalam Film industry, Roshan Mathew acted in Bollywood Films and Tamil also. He made his first debut in B-town with  'Choked', the film directed by Anurag Kashyap in 2020. He plays a lead role in the film and attained critical appreciation for his performance in the film.  Later, he appeared in the film, 'Darlings' directed by Jasmeet K. Reen in 2022. Through this film, the actor shared a big screen with Bollywood dashing queen Alia Bhatt. It was an average recorded film and Roshan became a popular face among B-Town audiences.

In 2022, Roshan Mathew who plays a pivotal role in the Tamil Film Cobra'directed Ajay Gnanamuthu. The superstar Vikram starred film received negative reviews from critics and audiences alike. The movie was released however, it did not do well.
 

Awards

In 2018, Roshan Mathew won SIIMA Best Actor Award for Supporting Roles in the films like Koode and Moothon.He won the Best Supporting Actor award for Moothon at Indian Film Festival in Melbourne.
