Samantha Ruth Prabhu is a South Indian actress and model who appears in Tamil and Telugu films. Born to Malayalee and Telugu parents, Samantha was brought up in Tamil Nadu and pursued a career in modelling during her late teens.
Despite signing up for Ravi Varman's Moscowin Kaveri in mid-2007, her first major release was the critically acclaimed Gautham Menon film, Ye Maaya Chesave. Samantha was born on April 28, 1987, to a Malayalee mother and a Telugu father. She was brought up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, becoming fluent in the Tamil language.
Career
Samantha's first release was Indira Productions' Gautham Menon's "Ye Maaya Chesave." The film, a simultaneous remake of the Tamil film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, created much hype prior to its release, primarily due to the successful soundtrack by A. R. Rahman.
She got the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Actress for this movie in both languages (Tamil & Telugu). She has appeared in over 45 films. She is the recipient of several awards, including four Filmfare Awards, two Nandi Awards, six South Indian International Movie Awards, and three CineMAA Awards.
Samantha is a prominent celebrity endorser of brands and products. At the same time, she also started her own NGO, Pratyusha Support, to provide medical support for women and children in 2012.
Marriage and Divorce
On the 6th of October, 2017, she got married to Naga Chaitanya as per Hindu traditions in Goa. The next day, they had a Christian wedding celebration. Samantha and Naga Chaitanya announced their separation on October 20, 2021.
Second Marriage
Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu and filmmaker Raj Nidimoru tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on December 1, 2025. The private wedding was held at the Linga Bhairavi temple within the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore, attended by only about 30 close friends and family members. This marks the second marriage for both Samantha and Raj.
