The film is a collaborative effort, produced by director Blessy along with K. G. Abraham, Jimmy Jean-Louis, and Steven Adams. Alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran and Amala Paul, it features Jimmy Jean-Louis, Sobha Mohan, and Akef Najem in pivotal roles. The film is based on the 2008 novel ‘Aadujeevitham’ one of the most popular best-sellers in Malayalam. Written by Benyamin, the novel has been translated into 12 languages, including foreign languages.
Renowned musician A.R. Rahman composed the music for the film. Cinematography is expertly handled by K.U. Mohanan is known for his work in Bollywood films like 'Don,' 'Aaja Nachle,' and 'Fukrey.' Editing is skillfully managed by A. Sreekar Prasad.
Plot
'Aadujeevitham' delves into the heart-wrenching true story of Najeeb, a Malayali migrant worker enticed by the prospects of employment in Saudi Arabia. However, his hopes for a brighter future are dashed as he becomes ensnared in a cruel web of exploitation. Forced into servitude as a goatherd, Najeeb endures relentless labor and dire living conditions, a stark contrast to the promises of prosperity.
Amidst the physical toil, Najeeb grapples with profound feelings of isolation and despair, estranged from his homeland and loved ones. His journey through the desolate landscape of exploitation and oppression illuminates the plight of migrant workers worldwide, their dreams shattered by the harsh realities of modern slavery.
In addition to highlighting themes of alienation, diaspora, and violence, 'Aadujeevitham' also explores the complexities of suppression and religion, offering a poignant portrayal of the human spirit's resilience in the face of adversity.
