The Hindu

The film rarely provides insight or perspective into the Kargil war itself, but opens up the sentimental floodgates that many of us have (or remember) about the Kargil war. We are reminded, like we are today, about why we are complaining about our pathetic life while soldiers in the border are dying.

Arjun has weaved a pretty straightforward and simple love story, and with his well-known patriotic leanings, has used the Kargil war as the backdrop for this story that unfolds in 1999. The mini-twist, at the end, doesn't do much to save this mediocre film. On the whole, it's just a run-of-the-mill romantic film which has almost no redeeming factors.

The story line demands a realistic execution but Arjun prefers to play it to the gallery, which is the film's biggest drawback. Songs are unnecessary for the film's genre and instead, Arjun could've concentrate more in registering the war portions. Sollividava has an interesting idea but the overall product is not up to the mark.

Times Of India

Love stories set against war backdrop is nothing new to Tamil audience. Sollividava, too, has romance between its lead pairs, but the hero and heroine here aren't affected by the war, unlike many films which belonged to this line. Overall, a little editing in the second half, coupled with a comparatively convincing patriotic story would have made Sollividava a better watch.
