Kanguva Story
Kanguva is an epic Tamil historical fantasy drama movie written and directed by Siruthai Siva. The film stars Suriya in a powerful role as a tribal warrior, joined by Bollywood star Disha Patani, who makes her Tamil debut. Known for her roles in M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story and Malang, along with her popular social media presence, Disha is poised to capture Tamil audiences’ hearts once more. The cast also features Yogi Babu in a comedic role, adding a lighter touch to the intense storyline.
Rockstar Devi Sri Prasad crafted the movie’s immersive soundtrack and background score, while Vetri Palanisamy handled cinematography, capturing the film’s grandeur. The editing by Nishad Yusuf ensures a seamless flow to this dual timeline epic. Produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja, Vamsi, and Pramod under Studio Green and UV Creations, Kanguva is a pan-Indian release, debuting in ten languages in 3D and widely accessible through 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D formats. Studio Green has helmed this expansive release to bring the film’s intricate storytelling and visually rich experience to a broad audience.
Storyline
Kanguva follows the story of Francis (Suriya), a fearless bounty hunter who takes on any job for the right price. After a breakup with fellow bounty hunter Angel (Disha Patani), their paths continue to cross, creating tension as they compete for jobs. In the midst of his assignments, Francis encounters a boy named Zeta, who has undergone a brain transplant and is being chased by a gang. Determined to protect Zeta, Francis risks his life despite not having any direct connection to him. Zeta, however, deeply admires Francis.
As Francis and Zeta’s bond strengthens, the film delves into questions of reincarnation and destiny. Why does Francis feel compelled to protect Zeta despite their lack of a personal bond? The story unfolds a complex rivalry involving Kanguva, Pranava Kona, Kapala Kona, Aranya Kona, Hima Kona, and Sagara Kona—five regions caught in an age-old struggle for supremacy. Kanguva’s conflict with Rudhira Nethra (Bobby Deol) of Kapala Kona intensifies, fueled by a deep-seated enmity. As tensions rise, Romania becomes a battleground where clans vie for dominance. The storyline unravels Kanguva’s quest for revenge and protection, highlighting his determination to shield Zeta at any cost. The answers to these questions drive the powerful narrative of Kanguva, where clan rivalry, ancient enmity, and redemption collide.
Filming Insights
Director Siva describes Kanguva as an awe-inspiring cinematic journey, with Suriya’s portrayal of a “man with the power of fire” bringing a unique intensity to the screen. Over half of the film has already been shot, with the remaining portions set to be filmed in Goa, Chennai, and other locations over the coming months.
Release Date
Kanguva is slated for a November 14, 2024 release, hitting screens across Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi. The film will be available in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D formats, offering audiences an unforgettable visual experience. The digital streaming rights of the film was acquired by Amazon Prime Video.
