Raayan Story
Raayan is a Tamil action crime thriller movie directed by Dhanush. The movie casts Dhanush, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Aparna Balamurali, Dushara Vijayan, and Anikha Surendran in the main lead roles along with S. J. Suryah, Prakash Raj, Selvaraghavan, Jayaram, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Saravanan, Motta Rajendran, Dushyanth Ramkumar, and many others have seen in supporting roles. The music was composed by A. R. Rahman while the cinematography was done by Om Prakash and it is edited by Prasanna GK. The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures banner.
The film was officially announced in January 2023 under the tentative title "D50," signifying Dhanush's 50th film as a lead actor. Principal photography began in July 2023 and was shot in Chennai and Karaikudi in several legs, wrapping up by mid-December.
Story
Raayan (Dhanush) is burdened with the responsibility of raising his younger siblings, Muthu, Manikyam, and Durga, after their mother passes away during their childhood. Following a series of unfortunate events that include killing a priest, Raayan and his siblings leave their village and move to a new one, where they find support from Sekhar (Selvaraghavan), who becomes a mentor and protector to them.
Despite Shekhar’s guidance and Raayan's efforts to foster strong familial bonds, Muthu and Manickam betray Raayan by colluding with Seetharam (SJ Suryah), a local mafia boss, and attempt to kill him. The conflict deepens as village disputes between Seetharam and Doraiswamy escalate, leading to violence and intrigue.
Amid these tensions, Raayan's commitment to his sister Durga (Dushara Vijayan) and his desire to see her well-settled come to the fore. He faces numerous challenges, including the betrayal of his brothers and the injustice inflicted on Durga. Raayan’s journey involves making tough decisions to protect his family and fulfill his responsibilities, which forms the crux of the film’s narrative.
Release Date:
Raayan movie was released in theaters on 26 July 2024. Raayan will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video from Aug 23, 2024.
