Jiah Khan Death Case: Nearly a decade after Jiah Khan's death, a special CBI court in Mumbai acquitted Bollywood actor Sooraj Pancholi, the prime accused in the case involving abetment to suicide.

Sooraj Pancholi, who is the son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, disputed the accuracy of the investigation and chargesheet during his final statement to the court. He alleged that the prosecution witnesses had testified against him under the influence of Jiah Khan's mother Rabia, the police, and the CBI.

Earlier, the special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Mumbai had decided to pronounce its verdict on the death case of Bollywood actress Jiah Khan, today on April 28. Jiah was found dead at Juhu home on June 3, 2013.

After her death, the police recovered a suicide note allegedly written by the actress, after which her boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi was arrested in abetment of suicide. The 'Hero' actor was later granted bail in the case by the Bombay High Court.

As per reports, the special CBI judge AS Sayyad reserved its verdict in the case for April 28, after hearing both sides' final arguments on April 20.

It was reported by TOI that as the date of the verdict is inching closer, the accused Pancholi, and his family are getting anxious, however, they have stayed positive about the outcome. A member of the Pancholi family revealed to ETimes that "Going by the merits of the case, the entire family is positive. But we are also anxious about the verdict which is slated to come out on April 28 in the Special CBI Court number 52."

All About Jiah Khan Case

Jiah Khan, who is best known for her roles in Ghajini, Housefull, and Nishabd, was found hanging at her residence by her mother, Rabia Khan on June 3, 2013. Jiah allegedly wrote a 6-page letter describing her relationship with Sooraj Pancholi. Following the actress's death, her mother, Rabia accused Sooraj and his family of 'mistreating' her daughter.

As reported by PTI, Rabia, who was a key prosecution witness told the court it was a case of murder and not suicide. She was quoted as saying, "I want the truth to be out, Jiah Khan did not take her own life. We have spent 10 years exposing the truth based on factual evidence. Now it is up to the court to draw the right conclusions."

Sooraj Pancholi was just a Starkid back then. Reports suggest that Jiah and Sooraj met through Facebook and soon their friendship blossomed into love.
