Aarthi Agarwal was an Indian actress, who predominantly appeared in Telugu cinema.
Agarwal made her Telugu film debut in Nuvvu Naaku Nachav with actor Venkatesh. She was one of the few non-Telugu speaking actresses to work with some of India's biggest film stars, such as Chiranjeevi, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Mahesh Babu, Ravi Teja, and NTR Junior.
Agarwal was born on 5 March 1984 to a Gujarati family. At around 14 years of age, actor Sunil Shetty spotted her and invited her to dance on stage in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After the performance, he asked her father to encourage her to take up acting in Bollywood and at the age of 16, she made her debut with Paagalpan.
In 2005, the newspaper The Hindu reported that the actress had attempted suicide. Speculation of suicide surfaced in 2006 after she was hospitalized with internal head injuries at Apollo Hospital, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad and put on ventilator support.
In 2007 Aarthi married NRI Tasval Kumar, a US based software engineer from whom she was divorced in 2009.
