Bahul Ramesh

Bahul Ramesh is a Malayalam cinematographer and writer best known for serving as the Director of Photography for Kishkindha Kaandam. He hails from Payyanur in Kannur district, Kerala, where his passion for films began early in his school days. After moving to Chennai to study Visual Communication, he shifted his focus to cinematography and completed formal training at the L. V. Prasad College of Media Studies.

He made his debut as an independent DOP with Mandharam in 2018 and later worked on notable Malayalam films such as Kakshi: Amminippilla (2019) and Innale Vare (2022). During the COVID-19 lockdown, Bahul discovered his interest in writing and completed the script for Kishkindha Kaandam in just eight days, marking his entry as both a writer and cinematographer.

The success of Kishkindha Kaandam brought him significant recognition for its atmospheric visuals and layered screenplay. He continued building his writing career by contributing to Kerala Crime Files Season 2 and again collaborated with director Dinjith Ayyathan for Eko, where he handled both cinematography and scriptwriting.

Bahul’s work earned him a SIIMA nomination for Best Cinematographer, highlighting his strong dual presence in visual and narrative craft. He is regarded as one of the promising writer–cinematographers in Malayalam cinema and continues to stay active creatively, maintaining a growing presence on social media.
