Personal Life
Bhumi Pednekar was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, on July 18, 1989. She attended Arya Vidya Mandir in Juhu for her primary schooling before enrolling at Whistling Woods International in Mumbai to learn acting. She was evicted from the college due to her poor percentage of attendance, even though her family had registered her, thereby obtaining a loan for her studies. Since being removed from university, she has been an assistant filmmaker for Yash Raj Films for a year and a half.
Career Life
Bhumi Pednekar spent over six years at YRF, working under the direction of Chief Casting Director Shanu Sharma. She had no clue that she'd end up being the lead female role in the movie when YRF later asked her to provide a preview for the role of Dum Laga Ke Haisha. She submitted nearly 100 auditions before being chosen as the movie's heroine, gaining 25 kg in the process. The film was a financial success, and Pednekar received the Filmfare Award for Best Female Opening for her performance.
Pednekar never glanced back after finding her Debut appearance and went on to act in a string of successful films. She collaborated with Akshay Kumar on the Bollywood film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, nearly two years after her first film was a commercial success. This film was also a box-office success. Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Lust Stories, Sonchiriya, Saand Ki Aankh, Bala, Pati Patni Aur Woh, and Durgamati are merely a handful of the films she has made to date.
