K.S. Aswath, veteran Kannada actor. He has acted in 370 movies, has stopped acting due to his deteriorating health condition and has been staying at his Sarswatipuram Nivas in Mysore. Recently, his family members had taken him around the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Ganga Ghats in a wheelchair. K.S. Aswath was in a coma for last three days at a hospital here has died on 18 Jan 2010. Personal Life He leaves behind his wife, two sons and two daughters. His son, Shankar Aswath , also an actor. Dr KS Ashwath and Dr Vishnuvrdhana starring ‘Nagarahavu’ is the evergreen film so far. Ashwath played Chamaiah Meshtry and Visnuvardhana in his debut was the student ‘Ramachari’. From ‘Strirathna’ in 1955 to ‘Sirivantha’ Dr Ashwath acted in nearly 370 films. He came to cinema a year after Dr Rajakumar came to films in 1954 via ‘Bedara Kannappa’. Out of 370 films Dr Ashwath acted in nearly 100 films with Dr Rajakumar. After his retirement from films in 1994 he was compelled to acting by Dr Rajakumar family for ‘Shabdavedi’. With Dr Vishnuvardhana he acted his last film ‘Sirivantha’ but before that he played grand father to another Mysorean actor Darshan in ‘Bhoopathy’. Actress Pandari Bai and Dr Leelavathi were the screen wives to Dr Ashwath in nearly 60 plus films. The body of Dr K.S.Ashwath will be placed at Javaregowda Park in Mysore and he will be cremated in the evening in Mysore. The Kannada cinema industry has lost the most ‘Sajjana’ actor. The loss is inseparable to the Kannada film industry.
