Padmapriya (popularly known as Priya) is an actress in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi film industries. Padmapriya is a Malayali Brahmin, but she was born in Delhi and brought up in Punjab. Her father was in the army and thus she has lived all over India.
She is an established actress in the South Indian cinema. She loves reading, travelling, classical music, cooking, swimming and dancing. Padmapriya is a pure vegetarian and loves good food.
She's performed in more than 200 public events and shows. Her Krishna Leela Ballet, where she performed the role of Lord Krishna for Hyderabad Doordarshan in 1990 is telecasted even today on almost all Krishna Jayanti festivals and was specially chosen for the SAARC exchange program. She also featured in Nritya Rupam, an innovative choreography by Jayalakshmi Eshwar at Delhi, which was also specially telecasted by Delhi Doordarshan.
She has also won Miss. Andhra Pradesh in 2001. Her passion for acting and modelling has made her successful in her films. Her first film was in Telugu. She then started acting in Malayalam movies, where she acted with all the superstars such as Mammootty, Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, etc.
Her first film in Tamil being Thavamai Thavamirundhu paired with actor/director Cheran, turned out to be a huge hit. Then followed Pattiyal, a film directed by Vishnuvardhan, in which she was paired with Arya.
