Pooja Chopra is an Indian beauty pageant contestant who was crowned Pantaloons Femina Miss India World 2009. Pantaloons Femina Miss India World 2009 is the title given to the best girl from the 25 finalists entering the pageant though all the top three are considered equal winners. She grew up with her mother and sister and represented India in the Miss World competition held on December 12, 2009. 1985–2008:Early life and beginnings As a child she had time with her father refusing her as their second child as her older sibling is also a girl. She considers her mother her role model who had the courage to walk out on her father with 20 days old Pooja and her seven year old sister with absolutely nothing. Her father is last heard to have remarried with two sons. Pooja Chopra is resident of Pune in Maharashtra. She was born on May 3, 1985 in Kolkata. Pooja Chopra is 5'8" tall and about 50 kg in weight. Her vital statistics is around 33-26-36 in inches. 2008–present: Femina Miss India and Miss world 09 Pooja Chopra was one of the contestants of Femina Miss India East 2009, organized by Femina, a women's magazine, held on Feb 17, 2009 in Kolkata. She was crowned with the 2009 Femina Miss India East title thus getting a direct entry into the top ten finalists of the Femina Miss India 2009. Pooja Chopra was crowned the Pantaloons Femina Miss India-World 2009 on April 5, 2009. Pooja Chopra trained by Pageant Coach Ritika Ramtri Kumar. Pageant Coach of The Tiara won Femina Miss India East 2009 on February 17, 2009, at Kolkata. She also won Miss Perfect 10; Miss Catwalk and Nakshatra Miss Sparkling Beauty. Twenty-four year old Pooja who is 5.8 inches tall has done commercials for Mr Muscle, Big 97 FM, Dabur Honey, Coke (Pakistan) and EZone. She has also walked the ramp for Gitanjali, D'Damas, Manish Malhotra, Vikram Phadnis, Wendell Rodricks, Mihika Mirpuri, and Roberto Cavalli. She was Navy Queen 2007 1st Runner Up, NDA Queen 2004 1st Runner Up and has also acted in Fashion the movie. Pooja's wardrobe was designed by Fashion Designer Priyanka Rajiv, who has also designed a saree for Angelina Jolie when she was visiting India. Umesh Mohite, Facility Head World Gym (Pune Branch) took care of her physical fitness. She sprained her ankle while running down a flight of stairs on December 11, 2009 the eve of the Miss World 2009 finals. Doctors advised her 3 weeks complete bed-rest but she bravely took the stage and refused to back out. Chair of the Miss World Organization Julia Morley suggested that Pooja drop out of the dance round and so she had to take only few painful steps with her knee length cast. Finally on on the pageant finals night on 12th December her "Nanhi Kali" project made her win the "Beauty With a Purpose" title in "Miss World 2009" beating the other two finalists for the title Guatemala and Barbados who came second and third respectively.] This fast tracked her into the semifinalists. When announced the winner of the Beauty With a Purpose title she burst out crying hugging the host Angela Chow while she explained Pooja's injury. She made it into the top 16 finalists and she did win USD$10000 for her "Nanhi Kali" project which helps small girls fight poverty.
