Priyamani is an Indian film actress who predominantly appears in Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil films. She was born on June 4, 1984, at Palakkad, Kerala, India. She won the prestigious National Film Award for Best Actress for her successful role as "Muthazaghu" in the Tamil film Paruthiveeran. She started her career with the film Kangalal Kaithu Sei, which was a flop at the box office. Afterwards, she was paired with Dhanush in Balu Mahendra's Adhu Oru Kana Kaalam, which flopped at the box office as well. She is one of the few actresses who's starred in both critically acclaimed and commercial movies. After several Chennai film industry hits such as Yamadonga, Malaikottai, Paruthi Veeran and Thirakkatha, she has successfully established herself as a promising actress of the South Indian film industry. Priyamani was brought up in Bangalore. She started her film career with her debut film in Kollywood called Kangalal Kaithu Sei alongside actor Vaseegaran. The film was a flop at the box office and she moved on to Malayalam and Telugu films, owing to a lack of offers in Tamil films. She made her Telugu debut in Pellaina Kothalo with Jagapati Babu. Priyamani rose to fame with this film. Priyamani has made her Tamil comeback with the internationally acclaimed Tamil film Paruthiveeran helmed by Ameer Sultan, starring Karthik Sivakumar. Priyamani was born in Palakkad to Vasudeva Mani Iyer and Latha Mani Iyer. She was quite popular in her school days and she has done modeling for Kancheepuram silks, Erode silks and Lakshmi silks. After her 12th standard, it was the famous Tamil Director, Bharathiraja, who introduced her into the film industry. Priyamani has a great craze for acting and her favourite actors include Mammootty, Anant Nag and Mohanlal. Being a very smart talkative girl, she loves chatting with people and her hobbies include music and dance. She is Bollywood actress Vidya Balan's second cousin. She won the National award for her performance in Paruthiveeran. She was one of the 4 contenders for Manorama News' News Maker of 2008 title. Priyamani was seen as a lover to a young hero Nithin in the film Drona. This film is said to be a romantic action-thriller with Priyamani in a stylish tomboy role. Priyamani has a perfect charm to please the younger and older audience as well.
