Music Director/Action Choreographer

Ram Lakshman Biography

Ram–Lakshman, popularly known as the Stunt Master Twins, are among the most iconic and influential action choreographers in Indian cinema. Working predominantly in Telugu films and across Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam industries, the twin brothers have crafted a unique identity through their high-intensity, story-driven action sequences. With a career spanning over three decades, they continue to be one of the most sought-after stunt choreographer duos, shaping the action landscape for several blockbuster films.

Early Life & Background

Ram and Lakshman (birth names Chella Ram and Chella Lakshman) hail from a small village in the Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh. Born into a humble family, they spent their early days doing farm work and tending goats. Their interest in stunts began at a young age, even though they had no formal training when they entered the film industry. Over the years, they practised karate, weight training, and self-designed drills to build the strength and discipline required for action choreography.

Career Beginnings & Rise

The twins entered the Telugu film industry in the late 1980s and received their first noticeable credit as stunt masters for the film Naa Ille Naa Swargam (1991). Their dedication, daring approach, and ability to design raw, emotional action scenes quickly caught the attention of filmmakers. As they worked on more films, the duo began to blend martial arts techniques, rope work, and realistic choreography to create action that was both visually stunning and narratively powerful.

Breakthrough & Notable Works

Ram–Lakshman became widely recognised for their high-impact stunt design in several major films like Magadheera, Gabbar Singh, Mirchi, Rangasthalam, and Pushpa: The Rise. They later expanded into other film industries and worked on Tamil blockbusters like Sarkar starring Vijay. Their action scenes are known for capturing the hero’s persona and elevating emotional moments through grounded, well-timed stunt sequences. Their choreography in both commercial and content-driven films has been praised for its blend of realism and mass appeal.

Style & Recognition

The duo’s action style is often described as realistic, energetic, and character-driven. They ensure that every fight sequence supports the narrative rather than existing merely for spectacle. This unique approach has earned them widespread respect in the industry. Ram–Lakshman have also won six Nandi Awards for Best Fight Master, making them one of the most honored stunt duos in Telugu cinema’s history.

Work Ethic & Lifestyle

Beyond their cinematic contributions, Ram–Lakshman are known for their disciplined personal lives. The twins reportedly wake up at 3:30 AM daily, practice yoga and Surya Namaskar, and maintain a strict no-alcohol, no-smoking lifestyle to stay physically fit. They have openly spoken about their humble beginnings, how they transformed themselves to survive in the film industry, and how discipline has played a key role in sustaining a long career. Lakshman has also recovered from a life-threatening injury that left him in a coma for nearly two years, showing the tough realities of stunt work.

Recent Work & Current Projects

The duo remains active and relevant even after decades in the field. They continue to work on major films across South India, with recent and upcoming projects including Vishwambhara, a high-budget Chiranjeevi starrer. Their ability to merge traditional stunt techniques with modern filmmaking tools ensures that they stay at the forefront of Indian action choreography.
