Biography

Sumaira Shaikh is a prominent Indian stand-up comedian, writer, and actor from Dongri, a bustling neighborhood in Mumbai. She completed her graduation in psychology and initially trained as a counselor before choosing a career in comedy. Entry into Comedy Sumaira began her journey in the entertainment industry as an intern at the comedy collective All India Bakchod (AIB). Her sharp writing skills soon helped her transition into professional comedy, where she developed a unique voice known for its observational humor and deadpan delivery. Writing and Scripting Career She has worked as a writer on several popular comedy shows and web series, including: Son of Abish Pushpavalli Beauty and the Feast Her work on Pushpavalli was especially appreciated for its sharp, character-driven humor. Stand-up Special In 2022, Sumaira released her hour-long stand-up special Dongri Danger on Amazon Prime Video. This milestone made her one of the few Indian female comedians to have a solo special on a major global streaming platform. Acting Work Apart from stand-up, she has appeared in various comedy sketches and had a cameo role in the web series Pushpavalli . Reality TV Appearance In early 2026, Sumaira joined the reality show The 50 , which airs on Colors TV and streams on JioHotstar. However, she was eliminated during the show’s first week in a high-stakes double elimination alongside content creator Saurabh Ghadge.
