Pooja Vijay better known by her stage name Swasika , is an Indian actress and television presenter. She predominantly appears in supporting roles in Malayalam films and television series. Swasika has gained widespread recognition for her versatility in acting, with a career spanning across film and television, earning her a loyal fan base. Personal Life Swasika was born to Attupurath Vijayakumar and Girija. She hails from Perumbavoor, Ernakulam, Kerala, and has a brother named Akash. After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in literature, she pursued dancing lessons to further enhance her artistic skills. Swasika married Prem Jacob on 26 January 2024, marking a new chapter in her personal life. Career Swasika made her acting debut with the Tamil film Vaigai, directed by Sundarapandi, a love story in which her character was based on a real-life individual. Her early roles saw her in supporting roles, such as in Goripalayam (2010) by Rasu Madhuravan, where she played the second lead, all while still pursuing her studies. Her performance in Maithanam (2011) garnered positive reviews, portraying a village girl who values tradition and culture. Swasika continued to diversify her career with Kandadhum Kaanadhadum, where she portrayed a city-bred college girl, showcasing her range as an actress. She entered the Malayalam film industry with Cinema Company (2012) and played a significant role in Prabhuvinte Makkal (2012). In 2014, she ventured into more modern roles with the Tamil thriller Panduvam, playing a psychiatrist. Alongside her film career, Swasika has made a mark on television. In 2014, she worked as a television anchor, hosting a show on Jeevan TV. Her breakthrough in Malayalam television came with her lead role in the popular serial Dhathuputhri on Mazhavil Manorama. She then appeared in My Marumakan on Surya TV and gained further recognition with her portrayal of the central character in Chinthavishtayaya Seetha on Asianet, earning her accolades. Swasika also starred in the sequel Seetha on Flowers TV, which helped solidify her place in the industry. Though she signed up for another show, Pranayini, she later opted out. Swasika is not only an actress but also an active dancer and stage performer, often participating in dance-based stage shows and anchoring various television programs. She continued her television presence as the host of Red Carpet on Amrita TV and, in 2023, hosted the reality show Ammayum Makalum. In 2024, Swasika starred in the Tamil family sports drama Lubber Pandhu, directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu.
