Trivikram Srinivas Biography

Trivikram Srinivas is a dialogue writer-turned-director in the Telugu film industry. He completed his primary and secondary education in Bhimavaram. Trivikram married the niece of Sirivennala Seetha Rama Sastry. Trivikram and comedian Sunil graduated from the same college (DNR College) in Bhimavaram.

Trivikram was a BSC student, while Sunil was a BA Fine Arts student. He and comedian Sunil happen to be close friends; they even got married on the same day, and the latter considers Trivikram the most influential figure in his life. Interestingly, Trivikram is a gold medalist from Andhra University in nuclear physics.

Career

Trivikram never had plans to enter the entertainment industry but had a keen interest in Telugu literature. Trivikram, Sunil, R. P. Patnaik, Chandra Siddartha (Appudappudu, Aa Naluguru, Madhumasam, fame), Dasaradh (Santosham, Swagatham), Gopi Mohan (a famous screenwriter), and Venu (a hero) were good friends.

He came to Hyderabad only for that purpose. He joined Trivikram and Sunil’s room and stayed there for many days. Gopi Mohan also stayed with them in their room for some days before he moved to a separate room with Veeru Potla (the writer of Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana).

Sunil introduced Trivikram to T.D.V. Prasad, who was making a film, and said that Trivikram was a "bloody good writer" and was looking for a break. He asked Trivikram to write the climax scene, but after he saw his work, Prasad was so impressed that he asked him to work as an assistant on Athadu, one of the most critically acclaimed movies in the industry.

It is rated highly for its technical standards. It collected a distributor share of Rs. 220 million in its total run, thus becoming the sensational hit of 2005 in Tollywood. Its satellite rights were sold for a whopping Rs. 18 million. After its stupendous response, it has also been dubbed into Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi.

Athadu was even dubbed into Polish in Poland as Poszukiwany. It became a decent hit in Poland too. It was the first Telugu film released in Poland.

Jalsa was the most anticipated film of the year 2008. With 320 prints in 1,000 theaters, the film debuted to high expectations. The audio rights were sold to Aditya Music for 90 lakhs, the most ever paid for a Telugu film's audio rights in recent times. It became a major hit at the box office, grossing a whopping Rs. 42 crore in 50 days.

Dialogue Writer

Perhaps, after Late Jandhyala, he is the only Telugu film writer who is so versatile. He introduced a slew of changes to Telugu film dialogues. He did face many problems entering the industry, but when he finally made it, the whole industry took notice. It is truly an astonishing feat that he won the Nandi Award for best dialogue writer four times in a span of five years.

Trivikram is best known for the dialogues written for Telugu movies like Nuvve Kavali, Chirunavvutho, Nuvvu Naaku Nachav, and Manmadhudu. His dialogues are primarily one-liners and witty, although they can at times deal with more serious issues like life and relationships very effectively. Trivikram took nine months to write the Chirunavvutho script, for which he got the Nandi Award.

Trivikram was the highest-paid writer before he became a director himself. Abburi Ravi, the dialogue writer of movies like Bommarillu, is also a close associate of Trivikram. It was Trivikram who persuaded Ravi to enter as a dialogue writer. Initially, Abburi Ravi was scared of the film industry after seeing the hard work that Trivikram used to put into films.

He used to go in the early mornings and return in the late evenings. Trivikram had no personal life at all. But Trivikram convinced Ravi and took him on as an assistant for his maiden directorial film, Nuvve Nuvve. He works alone and never discusses his work with others. He is also known for his spontaneity.

He shot 48 scenes in three hours for his close friend Sunil's film, Andala Ramudu. Many people don't know that Trivikram also penned the dialogue for the Venkatesh and Bhumika starrer Vasu, which is directed by Karunakaran.

Director

He is well known as a dialogue writer, but he also penned the lyrics for the Oka Raju Oka Rani movie, sang the song "Computersu Artsu Scienceu" in the Nuvve Nuvve movie, and is now the most sought-after director in the industry. He ventured into direction with the movie Nuvve Nuvve, winning critical acclaim, and came into the limelight with Athadu.

While almost all technicians and actors strive to be present on various Telugu channels around the clock to promote their films, share their experiences, do interviews, and so on, Trivikram avoids all of it. He is keen on speaking through his work alone. He rarely interacts with the media, and in one of his interviews, he quoted, "Your work should speak, not you."
