Yugendran Vasudevan is a multifaceted artist, effortlessly juggling the roles of an actor, singer, music director, and host. He has sung hundreds of songs in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, and his performances are always a treat to watch and listen to. With his versatility and talent, Yugendran has carved a niche for himself in the Indian entertainment industry.

Personal life

Yugendran was born Yugendran Vasudevan on December 20, 1976, to the late Malaysian-origin Tamil-language playback singer-actor Malaysia Vasudevan and He has two sisters, Pavithra and Prashanthini, the latter of whom is a Tamil playback singer as well. He is a true citizen of the world, and his life story reflects the rich diversity of the Tamil diaspora.

Music career

Yugendran, the melody maestro, began his musical journey as a Mridangamist, making his debut solo performance at the tender age of 10. His mridangam arangetram was graced by the presence of two stalwarts of Indian music, Dr. Balamurali Krishna and Illaiyaraja. His first foray into playback singing was with the song "Pollaachi Santhaiyile" in the film Rojavanam. He has since sung for a diverse range of music directors, including Ilaiyaraaja, A.R. Rahman, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Srikanth Deva, Deva, Sirpy, and Adidtyan.

Yugendran's voice is a versatile instrument, capable of rendering a wide range of genres, from soulful melodies to peppy dance numbers. He is also known for his ability to sing in different languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi. He continues to be a popular playback singer to date, with his latest release being the song from the film Goa. He is also a gifted composer, having composed music for several films, including Veeramum Eeramum, Balam, and Nenjathai Killaathe.

Acting career

Yugendran was initially supposed to make his acting debut through Raja Kantheeban's Mouname in 1998, but the project was shelved. [5] Yugendran Vasudevan Nair's debut was in the movie Poovellam Un Vasam, opposite Ajith Kumar and Jyothika. He went on to do more movies with Illaiya Thalapathy Vijay. His latest movie is Yuddham Sei, a Mysskin movie from 2011. He has acted as a hero in three movies: Kaiyodu Kai, Ulla Kadathal, and Pachai Nirame. He has acted in TV serials such as Savithree, Kolangal, Megala, and Idhayam. He has acted in TV dramas in countries such as Singapore and Malaysia.

TV Producer

He started two companies, Rambutan Productions in India and Rambutan Media Works in Singapore, and produced programmes for four countries: India, Singapore, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka. He runs his company with his wife, Hayma Malini. In Singapore, Rambutan Media Works produced TV shows like Endrendrum Punnagai (film-based), Sollathaan Ninaikirain (talk show), Vidumurai Vasantham (holiday variety), Kondaattam (info-ed), and Achamillai Achamillai (talk show for women by women).

Rambutan Media Works is now changed to 23 Frames Pte Ltd. and is currently producing the children's variety series "Vilaiyaattu Pasanga." He also directed a reality game show on Starhub Varnam Television and acted in a Singapore telemovie, Sathurangam, which was telecasted in Singapore on Father's Day 2016 on Vasantham (MediaCorp).
