Madonna shattered by doomed adoption reports

London, (ANI): Madonna is reportedly shattered with claims that her bid to adopt a second Malawian child is headed downhill. The Queen of Pop had been preparing to adopt three-year-old Mercy James but her application had been rejected by a court. The 50-year-old's lawyer had lodged an appeal to overturn the judge's decision and the date for the hearing was marked for May 4.

But recent reports suggesting her desperate attempt to win the custody of Mercy would be crushed again had reportedly left the singer on the brink. "Madonna has fallen in love with Mercy and can't bear to hear any suggestion she won't become her mum," the Daily Star quoted a source as saying. "She's a powerful woman who's used to getting her own way and has been clinging onto the hope she will win the appeal.

"She's already been shattered by reports she will lose and all hell will break loose if her claim is dismissed. "Her heart is totally set on taking Mercy home. If she doesn't get her way, no-one wants to be in the line of fire as she vents her fury," the source added. Madonna had been refused custody as she was not a Malawi resident - a requirement that was waived when she adopted three-year-old David Banda from the African country in 2006.
