Biography:  Jaaved Jaaferi is an Indian actor who has acted in various Hindi movies and serials. Apart from his association with India's substantial and significant film industry, he gained approval for his performance in a Maggi tomato ketchup advertisement aired in the 1990s. He is a noted impressionist, famous for his role in Bombay Boys, starring in its hit song I am Mumbhai. He is well known for his portrayals of Mumbai hoodlums referred to as taporis within Mumbai and the state of Maharashtra. He has been running and hosting a highly popular dance show called Boogie Woogie since 1996 on Sony Entertainment Television, and giving dubbed commentary to the famous Japanese television show Takeshi's Castle on Pogo TV. He is the son of comedian Jagdeep. Personal Profile Jaaved Jaaferi, born on 4 December 1963 in Mumbai, is the son of Syed Jawaher Ali Jaffrey (aka film actor Jagdeep; he is the elder brother of Naved Jaffrey, creator and director of Boogie woogie (tv series). Jaaved made his mark in Hindi cinemas when he caricatured the role of 'taporis', the local name given to the hoodlums of Bombay; he was schooled at St. Theresa's and resided in Bandra. He has played various roles in Hindi movies and serials. He gained additional attention for his Maggi tomato ketchup advertisements. His dubbed commentary has been used in Japan where he is known to many. He has three children, a daughter named Alaviaa and two sons, Mizaan and Abbas. Film Background The film Meri Jung, released in the year 1985, gave him his first opportunity to enact the role of a villain and showcase his dancing powers on screen. Television in the 1990s highlighted his comical abilities and magical powers, extending his popularity further. The launch of cable TV, particularly Channel [V] and it's irreverent sense of humour gave him a niche to depict his own unique brand of comedy. He anchored the show "Videocon Flashback" with distinctive brilliance. His deadpan expressions and bilingual puns gave him a formidable fan following. As a brief example, he interpreted "What is Yaadon Ki Baraat in Hindi as "a procession of mammaries". His interpretation is actually a play of words on how certain people in India pronounce the word 'memory' - a tongue-in-cheek reminder that the film starred two memorable actresses, Zeenat Aman and Neetu Singh who were both famous for their big breast size and hence 'procession of mammaries'. Another notable contribution by Jaaved Jaaferi is his performance as an anchor to the top-of-the-charts song programme, Timex Timepass, in which he shifted between the caricatures of various characters. Jaaved Jaaferi, known for his comic roles, won his first IIFA award for best comic role in Salaam Namaste in 2006. He hosted the dance competition show Boogie Woogie on Sony Entertainment Television Asia with his brother, Naaved Jaaferi and friend Ravi Behl.
