Mukesh Biography

Mukesh is an actor, producer, and television host, who is prominent in the Malayalam Film Industry. He is an all-time favorite actor and is best known for his romantic, comic-centric roles in films. His surprising performances in ever-green films like Ramji Rao and Godfather grabbed the audience's attention. He has acted in more than 250 films in the four decades of his career. Besides being an actor, he is a well-known politician and began his political journey in 2016. Mukesh is the current MLA from the Kollam constituency.

Personal Life
 
Mukesh Madhavan also known as Mukesh, was born in Kollam in 1957. He is the son of prominent Malayalam actors O.Madhavan and Vijayakumari. He has two siblings Sandhya Rajendran ad JJayashree After completing his degree from Sree Narayana College, he joined Government Law College in Thiruvananthapuram to pursue his law degree. Actor Mukesh married actress Saritha in 1988. However, in 2011, they got divorced. The couple has two sons. Later, in 2013, he married celebrated dancer Methil Devika. It was the second marriage for both of them. Then, the couple announced their separation after eight years of married life.

Career Life

Mukesh is one of the finest actors in the Malayalam Film Industry. He stepped into the film industry as an artist in the early 11980s Before coming to the industry, he actively participated in many stage shows and theatre plays during his college days. Mukesh made his first big-screen debut in Malayalam with the movie 'Balloon' in 1982. Later, he acted in the films like Pinnilavu, Odaruthammava Aalariyam and Akkare Ninnoru Maran All these films became hits and the actor was known as a new-generation actor of the 1980's.

In 1985, he played a lead role in a movie like Mutharamkunnu PO and Boeing Boeing. His stellar performance in the movie Boeing Boeing', along with Mohanlal grabbed critical appreciation The film was a blockbuster hit and the actor proved himself, he made the best-ever combination on-screen with Mohanlal in his career life. Later the combination made hugely successful films such as Hello My Dear Wrong Number, Thalavattam, Vandanam and Kakkakuyil. After then, plays a lead role in the film ‘Oru CBI Diary Kurippu’ along with Megastar Mammotty in 1988. The success of the film, the actor who again shared the screen space with him in the movies like CBI 5, Chronic Bachelor, Hitler, Jagratha, Sainyam and Kshamichu Ennoru Vakku.

Later, the actor began to act the slapstick and emotional character roles in films. His comic-centric role in the film 'Ramji Rao Speaking 'grabbed the audience's attention. It was released in 1989 and directed by Sididiquq-Lal. The film became a cult classic and is considered one of the best slapstick movies in Malayalam. After the success of the low-budget film -Ramji Rao Speaking -the makers are back with a sequel, Mannar Mathai speaking in 1995. It became one of the most successful films of that year. Since then, he acted in blockbuster hit movies such as In Harihar Nagar , Godfather, Mookkilla Rajyathu , Malappuram Haji Mahanaya Joji.

Facing up and downs in his acting life, the actor takes a short break and comes back to the industry by playing supporting roles in the films such as Udhayananu Tharam, Innathe Chintha Vishayam, Goal, Vinodayathra and Kadha Parayumbol. Later, in the year 2021, he appeared in movies such as Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, Tsunami and Mohan Kumar Fans.

Political Career

Actor-turned-politician Mukesh, made his debut in politics during Kerala Assembly Election in 2016. The actor was contested as CPI(M) candidate and elected as the MLA for Kollam Constituency in 2016 and re-elected in 2021.

Producer & Television Host & Author

Apart from being an actor, Mukesh is also prominent in the roles of producer, television host and author. Mukesh launched a production company named ' Lumiere Film Company' jointly with Actor Sreenivasan. It has produced two super hit fi, Katha Parayumbol and Thattathin Marayathu.

As a television presenter, Mukesh hosted many TV programs in Malayalam like Deal or No Deal and Badi Bunglo, Sell Me The Answer, Nammal Thammil, and Comedy Stars Season 2. Actor Mukesh is the author of the book titled Mukesh Kathakal – Jeevithathiley Nerum Narmavum'.

Awards and Recognition
 
In 2007, Actor Mukesh bagged Kerala State Film Award for Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value for Kadha Parayumbol. He also received Filmfare Award for Best Film for Malayalam Producer for Kadha Parayumbhoal in the same year.
