She launched her career as an independent director in 2017 with the movie "

Pakshishana Manam," directed by Nayana Crossroads, portrays the tale of a wildlife photojournalist who ventures into the jungle in quest of endangered bird species.
She was also a social media influencer and activist who frequently used the platform to lead demonstrations against the mining of black sand in Chavara. In 2019, on February 23, her birthday, she passed away. In February 2019, Thiruvananthapuram police discovered Nayana dead in the bathtub of a rented home. On January 2, almost four years after the filmmaker's end, the inquiry into her mysterious death was reopened.
