In the Marathi movie Karamati Coat (1993), Raut made his acting debut. He later relocated to the United States to attend Syracuse College and pursue a career in movies. After earning his degree, he came back to India and started working as a television producer.

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which was released in 2019, was the next movie that Raut made. It was hailed for its action sequences and storytelling, which gained a surprising level of spotlight.
