Raju Talikote, whose birth name was Rajesaba Maktumasab Yankanchi, was a well-known Kannada actor and comedian. He hailed from the Chikka Sindigi (Talikoti) village in Sindgi taluk, Vijayapura district in Karnataka. He was drawn to theatre from childhood, starting at about age seven under the influence of his father, who ran the “Khāsgateshwar Natya Sangha” theatre troupe. Together with his elder brother, he later managed and acted in the family’s drama company, performing plays across Karnataka.
Over time, Raju made a successful transition into Kannada cinema, often cast in supporting and comedic roles. Some of his notable film credits include Pancharangi (2010), Manasaare (2009), U The End A (2016), Topiwala, Patharagitthi, Alemari, and many more. He also participated in Bigg Boss Kannada Season 7 as a contestant, gaining greater visibility in the television space. In addition to acting, he was recognized for his contributions to regional theatre. In 2024, he was appointed Director of the Dharwad Rangayana, underscoring his role as a veteran theatre practitioner.
Raju Talikote passed away on October 13, 2025, in Manipal Hospital, Udupi, due to a heart attack.
