Yung Sammy, born Samuel Lloyds Morrison, is a Nigerian-born rapper who later moved to India and built his career in the Desi Hip Hop (DHH) scene. He relocated to India with his family at a young age when his father, a priest, was posted there. Growing up in Delhi and Noida, Sammy completed his schooling in Delhi and pursued a degree in International Relations in Noida, initially aspiring to become a diplomat. Though he struggled with Hindi at first, he gradually became fluent by immersing himself in local cultures and communities.
Music Career
Inspired by artists like Yo Yo Honey Singh and Bohemia, Yung Sammy began pursuing rap and quickly gained attention for his multilingual style, blending English, Hindi, Punjabi, Haryanvi, and Gujari. He achieved a breakthrough with his viral track “4x4,” which led to a deal with the global label Desi Trill. Some of his notable releases include the 2024 track “The Intro,” the EP In The Building, and the 2025 single “Mr. Rambo.” He also made global milestones by becoming the first Hindi hip-hop artist to feature on New York’s On The Radar platform and performing on Fire In The Booth.
Recent Work and Television Debut
In February 2026, Yung Sammy made his reality TV debut on the show The 50, airing on Colors TV and JioHotstar. During the show, he received public support after a controversy involving alleged racist remarks by singer Sapna Choudhary, which sparked widespread criticism and discussions online.
