In rural Karnataka and India, a Bangle seller is said to bring about fortunes to the village folk and is also considered as auspicious for ceremonies. Interestingly, the various colours of bangles hold significance for different ceremonies. Though a bangle seller is believed to bring in fortunes in the lives of others how much of fortune will he have in his own life will form the crux of the story.

Director Om Saiprakash has earlier written stories for Shivaraj Kumar's movies like Devaru Kootta Tangi, Anna Tangi, which were successful at the Box Office. He is known for his sentimental stories. Now he is again back with Shivanna through his another sentimental movie Bhagyada Balegara.

The film Bhagyada Balegara is a Bangle vendor's love story. Saiprakash has tried to weave in a love story dominated by heavy-duty, melodramatic sentiments. The movie gives a slice of village life and culture. It has good narration, excellent placement of sequences and songs, but the story, which is written by Ajay Kumar, lacks freshness.
