Biography

Janardhan , popularly known by his stage name Bank Janardhan , was a veteran Indian actor renowned for his contributions to the Kannada film industry. Born in 1948 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, he carved a niche for himself as a character artist, especially known for his impeccable comic timing and dramatic performances. Bank Janardhan began his film career in 1985 with the movie Pitamaha. Over the decades, he became a familiar face in Kannada cinema and television, acting in over 500 films. He was widely appreciated for his roles in hit movies like Shhh! (1993), Tharle Nan Maga (1992), News (2005), Belliappa Bangarappa, Jee Boomba, Ganesh Subrahmanya, and Kaurava, among many others. Alongside films, he also appeared in popular Kannada television serials such as Paapa Pandu, further cementing his place in the hearts of audiences. Death In September 2023, he suffered a heart attack but recovered after medical treatment. However, in his later years, he struggled with age-related ailments. On the midnight of April 14, 2025, Bank Janardhan passed away at the age of 77 at Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru. His passing marks the end of an era in Kannada cinema, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, emotion, and memorable performances.
