Irshad Kamil is a Hindi/Urdu poet and lyricist who has written songs for many Bollywood hits like Jab We Met, Chameli and Love Aaj Kal. Irshad Kamil holds a PhD in Hindi poetry. He has been associated with English journalism and has a sharp understanding of literature and society.
Irshad started his career by writing for television in 1998. After writing Na Jaiyo Pardes and Kahan Se Kahan Tak, his first assignment in Mumbai was writing the dialogues for Manish Goswami’s Kartavya.
Soon followed Drishtaant, a serial produced and directed by Pankaj Kapur. Brought to Mumbai by producer Lekh Tandon, Irshad was given the opportunity by musician Sandesh Shandilya.
