Rupali Ganguly Biography

Rupali Ganguly is an Indian actress renowned for her work in Hindi television. She gained fame for her roles as Manisha "Monisha" Singh Sarabhai in the beloved sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004 - 2006) and Anupamaa Joshi in the drama series Anupamaa. She has received two Indian Telly Awards and one Indian Television Academy Award.


Born into a Bengali Hindu family in Bombay (now Mumbai), Maharashtra on April 5, 1977, Ganguly is the daughter of film director Anil Ganguly and sister to choreographer Vijay Ganguly. She pursued studies in hotel management and theatre.


Ganguly began her acting career at the age of seven, debuting in her father's film Saaheb (1985). Her breakthrough came with the role of Dr. Simran Chopra in the medical drama Sanjivani: A Medical Boon (2003-2005). She later appeared on Bigg Boss 1 in 2006. After a seven-year hiatus, Ganguly returned to acting with Anupamaa.


In addition to her television work, Ganguly has acted in Hindi theatre plays and participated in reality shows like Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 2 (2009). She also established an advertising agency in Mumbai in 2000.


Since 2020, Ganguly has portrayed the titular character in StarPlus's Anupamaa. She made her digital debut in 2022 with Anupamaa's prequel web series, Anupama: Namaste America, on Disney+ Hotstar.


Ganguly married businessman Ashwin K. Verma on February 6, 2013, and they have a son. She is recognized as one of India's most popular and highest-paid television actresses, known for her powerful on-screen portrayals. In 2022, she ranked 29th on Eastern Eye's "Top 50 Asian Stars" list and in 2023, she appeared in an ad for the Vocal for Local campaign alongside her Anupamaa co-actor Gaurav Khanna.
